On March 22nd, 2007 1&1 launched its latest price-driven marketing campaign. The visitors you send will be asked if they would like to save 25% off on the first year of a two year shared hosting agreement. Of course the special offer is optional, but you get the same commission regardless. Many people are highly motivated these days to save money wherever they can. 1&1 affiliates do very well with price-driven special offers and they will typically see their conversion rate and earnings increase during such an offer.

You will see that our banner ads will reflect this latest offer. However if you integrate text links into your website or emails, make sure you mention the 25% off limited time offer in addition to the other great benefits 1&1 has to offer. After all, the same reasons you like 1&1 will be the same reasons you referrals will like us too!

15 Google spam filters and how to avoid them - Part 1

Google tries to keep its search results as clean as possible. For that reason, they have a variety of spam filters in their ranking algorithm that try to remove low quality web sites.

If your web site gets caught by one of these filters, it will be very difficult to get high Google rankings. In the next articles, we'll take a look at the 15 most common Google spam filters and we'll tell you how you can get around them.

Google's Sandbox, Google's Trust Rank and Google's domain age filter

These three Google filters all take a look at the age of a web site. Many web sites don't get very old. For that reason, Google implemented a filter that prevents new web sites from getting high rankings for competitive search terms. That filter is called Google's sandbox.

Google's TrustRank filter is closely related to that filter. Web sites with a high TrustRank get high rankings on Google. The TrustRank of a web site is determined by the age of a web site, the quality of inbound links and the contents of a web site.

The domain age filter is another filter that considers the age of your web site. Web sites with old domain names are more likely to get high rankings for competitive keywords on Google.

How to get around these filters

It's not easy to get around these filters. As they all consider the age of your web site, you basically have to wait some time until Google releases your web site from the sandbox.

The best thing that you can do is to work on the content of your web site to show Google's web page spider that your web site is a valuable resource for your topic. Make sure that your web pages are relevant to your search terms.

In addition, get good inbound links to increase the TrustRank of your web site. The better the links to your web site, the higher your TrustRank and the higher your web site will rank on Google.

Even if your website is not about web hosting or domains, it is worth the time to create at least one page about 1&1 hosting products and one page about 1&1 domain names. Why? Because it is very easy to create a sub-domain like http://hosting.yourdomain.com or http://domains.yourdomain.com and then to redirect the sub-domain to 1&1 using your unique tracking URL. Additionally, you can link these pages to your main site, optimize them for search engines, and theoretically get some organic traffic to them. The main benefit of doing this is that you get a very easy to remember URL that you can tell to people OFFLINE. Almost no one could remember a full tracking URL, but they can remember a short nice subdomain.

Q: Sometimes there is a short delay from when I know I made a sale and when it appears in my Control Panel. Is this normal??
A: Yes, depending on the product purchased, sometimes there is a delay in the customer activating their account or in the credit card company processing the payment. Once an account is live/active, the sale will show in the Affiliate Statistics page of your Control Panel. There is no reason to panic or worry. Our tracking code which you use is recorded and will accurately identify the referral as having come from you.

Q: If I call you with a question about how to earn more from your affiliate program, will someone from the 1&1 affiliate team really answer the phone??
A: Yes! Believe it or not most affiliate programs are setup to run without much human intervention. We know that having skilled and experienced people who are willing to help you earn more is a valuable resource that is often underestimated. Our affiliate team might not be able to answer every question, but they know who can and will direct you to the best person who can help you.
